Support

Paceway is a simple app, but driving is not simple. Here are the situations that come up most often, and how to report a problem.

App status

Paceway is available on the App Store. If you need help with the app or want to report a problem, write to jacek@leszczynski.me.

I hear no alerts

  • Check that monitoring is on — the Monitor screen then says "Monitoring on".
  • Check the location permission in iOS Settings: Paceway needs access while it is in the background too.
  • Check the volume and the selected audio output, especially after connecting to Bluetooth or CarPlay.
  • Check whether the section you are driving is marked as monitored in the app rather than reference-only.

No alert on a section I know exists

Automatic detection covers only the directions whose road geometry has been reviewed. The rest appear on the map for reference and stay deliberately silent until road geometry or a real drive confirms their direction.

Reporting one of those is genuinely useful — ideally with the road number, the direction you were driving, and roughly where the section starts and ends.

An alert fired on the wrong carriageway or in the wrong place

This is the most serious kind of bug, because it undermines trust in every alert. Tell me when and where it happened, which way you were driving, and what the weather and signal were like. Those reports go straight into the data review.

The average is not what I expected

The Paceway average is an estimate computed from your iPhone’s GPS, not a reading from the enforcement device. Short signal gaps, tunnels, and detours all affect it. In tunnels the average is estimated from elapsed time and the official section length.

Always follow the posted signs — they take precedence over any number in the app.

CarPlay

Spoken alerts work over CarPlay and Bluetooth with no configuration. The separate Paceway CarPlay screen shows drive status, but it is supplementary — it does not replace navigation and is not needed for alerts.

Privacy and deleting data

There is no account, so there is nothing to delete on a server. Remove your drive history in the app ("Delete all history") or by deleting the app. The details are in the privacy policy.
